ABOUT SALT

Woman-Owned BUCKING Creative Video Company, Grand Rapids

SALT was built for stories that need more than polish.

Creativity with consequence.

We are not here to make wallpaper content. We are here to make work people remember. Work with taste. Work with nerve. Work that actually changes something.

OUR VALUES

01

CREATIVE COURAGE

We don’t color inside the lines. Rules bend. Limits break. The good stuff lives in the risk.

02

ELEVATION

We’re a woman-owned outfit that backs confidence, not permission. We raise voices, pull more chairs to the table, and own our space. Camera in hand.

03

COLLABORATION

We keep our sets ego-free zones. Good energy, real respect, and shared fire. That’s how great stories get made.

04

INTEGRITY

We do what we say, even when no one’s watching. We tell the truth in our relationships, our creative, and the stories we choose to tell.

05

CURIOSITY

We ask “what if?” like it’s a reflex. We chase the unknown because ...where the magic lives.

Years in Production

HAVE CAMERAS, WILL TRAVEL

Built in West Michigan. Ready wherever the story lives.

We love our West Michigan home base, but our production footprint reaches far past it. We travel light and move fast, keeping our crew lean on purpose so destination shoots stay sharp without the bloat of a traditional corporate circus.

That model has carried us from Ushuaia, Argentina for The Journey Within to a three-state sprint for Pharma Reform.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SALT
PRINCIPAL OWNER & EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

Jenna Inns

If you're ready to turn your story into can't-look-away content, you have met the right woman. Jenna clarifies brand vision, tells authentic stories, and disrupts the status quo to launch campaigns that stop the scroll.

Her path to SALT didn't start in film, even though it could have. Jenna applied to film school, got accepted, and turned it down. Her first job sent her to South Africa to train the cast of a touring stage show. One of the people she trained was a cinematographer named Sloan. They married, had their first son, and she later earned her Master's in Organizational Leadership. The rest is SALT.

Her absolute superpower? Resourcefulness. When faced with impossible roadblocks, she finds a way. She once pivoted a canceled outdoor production into a fully submerged underwater shoot in 24 hours flat by hunting down a local deep dive pool and hiring a professional scuba diver on the spot. Her real secret, though, is people. A true extrovert, she runs on relationships and transparent communication, which is why SALT is the trusted multi-year creative partner for the Grand Rapids Ballet, executive producer behind five Steven Malcolm music videos, and frequently recommended by local industry leaders like Buist Electric.

You will work directly with Jenna, benefiting from the same strategic risk-taking she has brought to agencies like Arc Worldwide and LaunchSquad and brands including Wayfair, Unilever, PEGA, and Haworth. Beyond SALT, her credits include Assistant Director on campaigns for Dell and GE, plus AD and producer credits on the 2024 feature film A Soldier for Christmas.

FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Sloan Inns

Sloan arrived in the United States from South Africa with $1,000 and a dream. He built SALT from that starting line into a production company trusted by national brands, agencies, and recording artists.

A natural risk-taker with relentless gritty energy, Sloan reimagines the ordinary and flips production problems upside down. Where most cinematographers see constraints, he sees the more interesting shot hiding behind them.

Case in point: on a Steven Malcolm music video, the venue ruled out both a techno crane and a drone, but Sloan wanted a sweeping shot that felt like a 100-foot crane move. After briefly considering rigging the camera on swinging ropes, he landed on something simpler. He and his key grip suspended the camera beneath a 24-foot length of speedrail, lifted it between them, and ran it through the space toward the talent.

Shot captured. Cost: $50 of speedrail and 30 minutes. The techno crane alternative would have run roughly $20,000 and burned the entire shoot day.

As Creative Director and Director of Photography, Sloan has shot for brands and artists including Steven Malcolm (five music videos), the Grand Rapids Ballet, Buist Electric, Haworth, PEGA, Wayfair, and Unilever. He has worked alongside agencies including Arc Worldwide and LaunchSquad on national campaigns for clients including Dell and GE.
